The usual route for visitors to Brac is to fly to Split Airport on the Croatian mainland, followed by taking the car & foot ferry from Split over to Brac. There are numerous flights to Split Airport from all over Europe, including many major airlines, giving a wide choice of flight options.

There is a small airport on Brac, near Bol in the south of the island. However this is a small, seasonal airport with just a few scheduled routes, hence is less convenient for most visitors, but very handy if you have a light aircraft from Vienna!.

ARRIVAL

Split Airport (SPU) is around 20km to the North-West of the town and the Split ferry port. A frequent bus service leaves from the airport arriving at the ferry terminal in 30-40 minutes, where you can travel as foot passengers.

If you are hiring a car to be collected from Split Airport for your onward journey to Brac, this Split-Supetar ferry is the service you will need. Car hire is also available to pick up from a local provider on Brac, giving the option of a number of other foot passenger crossings.

CROSSING TO BRAC

Split to Supetar:

The primary ferry route to Brac is from Split to Supetar, the island of Brac capital, and the crossing takes around 50 minutes. Carrying cars and foot passengers, this service runs several times a day, with increased frequency in high season. One company serves this route, Jadrolinija, and timetables, prices and booking for the ferry can also be found on the Croatia Ferries Website.

From Split, foot passengers can also travel to Brac on catamaran crossings to Bol, Milna and Sutivan. These are provided by several different companies and the availability & frequency increases hugely in the Summer months, giving visitors plenty of convenient choices.

A direct catamaran service from Split Airport to Bol is also available several times a day in high season, further information can be found on at Split Express Website

Brac from other Ports:

Being so close to the Croatia mainland, Brac is one of the most accessible of the Dalmatian islands and there are a number of alternative crossings that visitors can choose. Other ferry & catamaran services for foot passengers leave the mainland from Split, Dubrovnik and Makarska, and these land not only in Supetar, but also take visitors to Milna, Bol & Sumartin. There are also services between Brac and the neighbouring island of Hvar.

Journeying to & from Brac via other ports, as well as Split, is therefore possible & included below, please check all ferry information & timetables with the companies that run these services.

From Makarska, a year-round car ferry to Sumartin, with additional crossings in Summer, takes around an hour and is ideal for those coming from southern Croatia. A foot-passenger catamaran also runs from Makarska to Bol, in high season only.

There is the option to travel to Brac from Dubrovnik, landing at either Bol or Milna. These are catamaran services for foot passengers only, which start from April and run through the main season until late October. There is a longer journey time of around 3.5-4 hours, but could be a great option if you are combining some time in the beautiful old city of Dubrovnik along with your Croatia villas rental.

Brac to Hvar:

Island hopping is of course very appealing, and to allow you to do this, there are several catamaran crossings to the well known neighbouring island of Hvar.

The Brac departure point is from Bol or Milna, the journey time is between 20-40 minutes, and the services are largely seasonal. Small boats offering day trips are readily available from most of the larger coastal centres on Brac, as well as to destinations on the coast of Croatia.

With all the ferry crossings, it is advisable to check all information & timetables directly with the service provider. Book ahead if possible to be certain of your spot on the ferry on your chosen day & time.
